Ben Saunders enters the Bellator welterweight tournament for the third time in his career. He was eliminated in finals of season five’s tourney by Douglas Lima, who earned a second round knockout. In season six, Saunders was eliminated in the semifinals after dropping a unanimous decision to Bryan Baker.

Koffi Adzisto earned a spot in this year’s tournament, winning five out of his last six bouts, including knockout victories over UFC veterans Kevin Burns and Brandon Melendez. Most recently, Adzisto defeated former Bellator tournament competitor Chris Cisneros by unanimous decision at a Sugar Creek Showdown event last July.

Douglas Lima earned a shot at champion Ben Askren after winning season five’s tournament with consecutive wins against Steve Carl, Chris Lozano, and Ben Saunders. His bid to become champion came up short, losing a unanimous decision to Askren at Bellator 64.

Russian fighter, Michail Tsarev enters a Bellator tournament for the second time in his career. He was eliminated in the semifinals of season seven’s tournament by Lyman Good, who earned a second round TKO victory. In the first round, Tsarev stopped Tim Welch in the second round with a rear naked choke.
