Saad Awad took the spot of injured Patricky Freire in this year’s lightweight tournament, and has made the most of the giant opportunity. He’s earned back-to-back first round knockouts over Guillaume DeLorenzi and Will Brooks to get a spot in this year’s finals. Awad has won his last six fights professionally, all by stoppages.

For the second time in three fights, David Rickels defeated rising prospect, Jason Fischer at Bellator 91 to earn a spot in this year’s lightweight finale. In the quarterfinals, Rickels got the unanimous decision victory over Lloyd Woodard.

Ten year mixed martial arts veteran, Emanuel Newton made his name known, with a stunning first round knockout victory over former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal at Bellator 90. He’s now won eight of his last nine fights, including a second round submission victory over Atanas Djambazov in the quarterfinals.

RusFighter, Mikhail Zayats earned a spot in this year’s tournament finale with back-to-back first round stoppage victories over Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral and Jacob Noe. He’s currently on a seven-fight win streak, dating back to March of last year.
