Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Wolfslair teammate Cheick Kongo have reportedly signed multi-fight deals with Bellator Fighting Championships. There’s been no word on when either fighter will make their promotional debut, but both are expected to appear in Bellator’s 9th season.
Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson was clearly not been happy during his last few years with the UFC, and it showed in his performances in the cage, losing his last three fights with the promotion. In September of 2011, Jackson earned a chance to regain his world title against Jon Jones at UFC 135, but was submitted by the champ in the fourth round. He then had back-to-back uninspiring performances against Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira, losing decisions to both to end his contract with the UFC.
Prior to the Roy Nelson fight at UFC 159, Cheick Kongo was offered a new contract with the promotion but turned it down at the time. Nelson went on to knock out Cheick Kongo in just over two-minutes into the first round, and both the UFC and Kongo decided to part ways. He was 3-2 in his five fights, including victories over Pat Barry, Matt Mitrione, and Shawn Jordan.
