Darren Elkins took a short notice fight against Chad Mendes at UFC on FOX 7 and suffered a first round knockout loss, snapping a five-fight win streak. After going 1-1 as a lightweight, Elkins dropped to the 145 lb roster where he went on to win five consecutive bouts, including key wins over Diego Brandao, Steven Siler, and Antonio Carvalho.

Hatsu Hioki lost his second straight fight inside the octagon, after being on the wrong side of a controversial split decision loss to Clay Guida at UFC on FOX 6. He previously lost a clear-cut unanimous decision to Ricardo Lamas in June of last year, snapping a six-fight winning streak dating back to May of 2010.

Takeya Mizugaki won back-to-back fights for the first time during his tenure in Zuffa organizations, but not without controversy, winning a controversial split decision over Bryan Caraway at UFC on Fuel TV 8. Mizugaki made his WEC debut in April 2009, and has since traded wins and losses until defeating Jeff Hougland and Caraway consecutively.

Erik Perez has made a name for himself quickly in the UFC, earning three straight first round stoppage victories to begin his career in the promotion. He debuted in June of last year, submitting John Albert in the opening round with an armbar. Perez has since earned back-to-back knockout victories over Ken Stone and Byron Bloodworth.
