Andreas Spang was eliminated in the quarterfinals of season eight’s middleweights tournament by Doug Marshall via first round TKO. Spang has now lost two straight fights since upsetting Brian Rogers in April of last year with a second round knockout.

Justin Torrey gets a spot in season nine’s middleweight tournament, despite being out of action since May of 2010. Torrey’s last two fights were under the Bellator banner, earning victories over Matt Makowski and Lance Everson. Six out his seven career victories have come by way of knockout.

Perry Filkins gets entry into a Bellator tournament for the first time, after earning an upset unanimous decision win over Jonas Billstein in November of last year. He’s now won five straight fights in his career, including a first round TKO victory over Louis Taylor at a CZ 40.

Jeremy Kimball rides a six-fight win streak in to this this year’s 185-pound tournament. Notable victories during the streak include a decision win over UFC veteran Drew McFedries, a submission win over highly-touted prospect Chidi Njokuani, and a knockout win over Keith Berry in his Bellator debut.
