A bitter rivalry that has been brewing for several years, will finally come to an end sometime next year. UFC officials announced today that Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva will coach the third season of the Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. Tryouts are scheduled for November 11th in Rio de Janeiro and are open to heavyweights, light heavyweights, and middleweights. Filming is expected to start early next year.
Chael Sonnen has made a name for himself calling out and insulting nearly every Brazilian fighter on the UFC’s roster, but other than Anderson Silva, no one has received more guff than Wanderlei Silva.
Recently, the two had a heated altercation at a Mr. Olympia convention, where both fighters exchanged words and members of both camps were needed to hold back their fighter. In my opinion, the meet seemed somewhat staged, but feel free to make your own opinion:
Chael Sonnen is scheduled to face Rashad Evans at UFC 167 on November 16th in the co-main event of the evening. The card will be headlined by welterweight champion, Georges St Pierre and Johny Hendricks.
