Fabricio Werdum planned on waiting on the sidelines for a title shot after his second round submission win over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, but champ, Cain Velasquez had shoulder surgery keeping him out of action until later this year. Werdum has won six of his last seven fights, including key wins over Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Silva, and Mike Russow.

Travis Browne was one of 2013’s breakout stars, earning back-to-back upsets over Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett, spoiling possible title shots for both fighters. Now Browne finds himself one more victory away from his own title shot, after going 6-1 in the cage since May of 2011.

Former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate still looks for her first UFC win, following another submission loss to Ronda Rousey at UFC 168. Tate is now just 1-3 in her last four fights, losing twice to Ronda Rousey and once to Cat Zingano.

Liz Carmouche lost her second fight in three attempts in the UFC, losing a one-sided decision to Alexis Davis at Fight Night 31 in her last cage appearance. She made history in February of last year, participating in the first women’s fight in the UFC, but fell short on her chance at a world title, falling to Ronda Rousey by first round armbar.
