Abel Trujillo left no doubt in his rematch with Roger Bowling at UFC on FOX 9, stopping him in the second round with vicious punches up against the cage to earn the TKO finish. In their first meeting last August, the scene looked very similar, but the fight was overturned to a no contest, due to two illegal knee strikes from Trujillo.

Jamie Varner has traded wins and losses since his return to the UFC in May of last year, most recently losing a split decision to Gleison Tibau at UFC 164. Varner’s most notable victory was an upset first round TKO win over Edson Barboza at UFC 146.

Bobby Green moved to 3-0 in the UFC with another superb performance against Pat Healy, striking his way to a clear-cut unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 9. He’s currently on a seven fight win streak dating back to September of 2011, including stoppage victories over Jacob Volkmann and James Krause in the UFC.

Clint Hester was looking sharp at UFC Fight Night 33, before a separated shoulder injury suffered by Dylan Andrews halted the bout after the second round. He’s now on a five fight win streak, including a third round knockout victory over Bristol Marunde in his UFC debut.

Ultimate Fighter 17 alum, Andy Enz, gets a shot in the UFC despite losing to the season’s eventual runner-up, Uriah Hall by unanimous decision in the elimination round. Officially, he’s 7-0 in his mixed martial arts career, with five wins coming by way of submission.

Roger Bowling and Abel Trujillo met at UFC Fight Night 27, with Bowling controlling the first round fairly easily which likely had him up on all scorecards. The bout ended strangely towards the end of the second round though, when Trujillo appeared to land an illegal knee to the chin of Bowling, then followed it up with a crushing right hand which did most of the damage. Referee Rob Hinds declared the bout a no contest for an illegal knee, despite replays showing the knee looking to have landed on the shoulder.

An undisclosed injury has forced Derrick Lewis off the card at UFC on FOX Sports 1 2, and instead of looking for a replacement for Nandor Guelmino, UFC officials have decided to scratch the bout completely. In it’s place will be a lightweight matchup between Roger Bowling and Abel Trujillo.

Roger Bowling is likely on the chopping block with a loss, currently on a two-fight losing streak in his career. He made his UFC debut against Anthony Njokuani at UFC on FOX 7, suffering a second round knockout loss. Bowling amassed a 4-3 record during his time with Strikeforce from May 2010 to August 2012.

Even though he tried valiantly, Abel Trujillo couldn’t handle the constant pressure of Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 160, ultimately dropping a one-sided unanimous decision against the Russian. The loss snapped a five-fight win streak dating back to August of 2011, which included his second round TKO victory over Marcus LeVesseur in his UFC debut.

Gray Maynard earned an unappealing split decision against Clay Guida at UFC on FX 4 in one of the more disappointing fights of the year. Previous to the Guida fight, Maynard challenged for the UFC lightweight title twice against Frank Edgar, first time fighting to a draw, then getting stopped in the 4th round by knockout in the rematch.

TJ Grant has upped his stock considerably since making the drop to the lightweight division. He’s now won four consecutive fights in the UFC, most recently stopping Matt Wiman in the first round by knockout at UFC on FOX 6. Other wins include a submission victory over Shane Roller and decision wins against Carlo Prater and Evan Dunham.

Khabib Nurmagomedov remained undefeated with a crushing first round TKO victory over Thiago Tavares at UFC on FX 7. His record is a perfect 19-0, including two other UFC victories, a submission win over Kamal Shalorus and a decision victory over Gleison Tibau in July of last year.

Abel Trujillo made quite the impression in his UFC debut, stopping Marcus LeVesseur in the second round via TKO. With the win, he’s now won five straight fights, including a submission victory over James Edson Berto at a CFA 6 in April of last year.
