Iuri Alcantara fell short on his bid to add his name among the elite in the UFC’s bantamweight division after losing a unanimous decision to Urijah Faber at UFC Fight Night 36. He’s now officially lost two of his last three fights, but also has a no contest against Pedro Nobre, a fight he was clearly winning until Nobre couldn’t continue from (phantom) illegal blows.

Wilson Reis looked impressive in his UFC debut, earning a clear-cut unanimous decision over gritty veteran, Ivan Menjivar at UFC 165. He’s now won five straight fights, including submission wins over Bruno Menezes, Billy Vaughn, and Owen Roddy.

Urijah Faber took another step closer to getting another shot at the UFC bantamweight title with a dominant performance over Scott Jorgensen, eventually getting the submission stoppage in the fourth round at the Ultimate Fighter 17 finale. It was his second straight submission victory since losing to Renan Barao at UFC 149, also finishing Ivan Menjivar with a rear naked choke in February of this year.

Iuri Alcantara put his name on the short list of possible future title challengers with a devastating knockout victory over Iliarde Santos at UFC on FX 8. He’s now 4-1 in Zuffa promotions, including key victories over Ricardo Lamas, Felipe Arantes, and Michihiro Omigawa. Alcantara’s only loss since October of 2009 was a decision loss to Hacran Dias at UFC  147.

At UFC on FX 7, Iuri Alcantara had what looked to be a TKO stoppage victory over Pedro Nobre, overturned to a no contest by referee Dan Miragliotta after he ruled some of the shots were to the back of the head. Replay showed the strikes were clean, but the decision stood. Alcantara began his UFC career 2-0, with wins over Felipe Arantas and Michihiro Omigawa before losing a decision to Hacran Dias at UFC 147.

Brazilian bantamweight, Iliarde Santos enters the UFC on a six-fight win streak, dating back to January of last year. During the streak, four wins have come by stoppages (3 TKO, 1 sub) and two by decision. Santos’ most notable win came at Jungle Fight 38, defeating Leandro Higo by unanimous decision.

Marcos Vinicius had a four-fight win streak come to and end at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale, after suffering a second round knockout loss to Johnny Bedford. In his UFC debut, Vinicius earned a come from behind, third round TKO victory over Wagner Campos at UFC 147.

Highly-touted Brazilian prospect, Hacran Dias was successful in his UFC debut with a unanimous decision over Iuri Alcantara at UFC 147. The win was his ninth in a row, with six of those victories coming by way of stoppages (4 subs, 2 TKOs).

Manny Gamburyan ended a three-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision victory over Michihiro Omigawa at UFC on Fox 4. In September of 2010, Gamburyan fought against Jose Aldo for the WEC featherweight title but was knocked out in the second round. After the UFC/WEC merger, he lost his first two UFC bouts by decision to Tyson Griffin and Diego Nunes.
