Jake Ellenberger had a two-fight win streak snapped at UFC on FOX 8, after an uninspiring performance against Rory MacDonald, losing a unanimous decision. He had previously been in title shot consideration with back-to-back wins over Jay Hieron and Nate Marquardt. Ellenberger still holds an impressive 8-3 record in arguably the UFC’s toughest division, with five of those victories coming by knockout.

The last Strikeforce welterweight champion, Tarec Saffiedine, made a successful UFC debut at Fight Night 34, earning a hard-fought unanimous decision win over Hyun Gyu Lim. He’s now won five-straight fights in his career, including a decision win over Nate Marquardt in January of last year to win the world title.

Joe Ellenberger makes his UFC debut on a two-fight win streak, but hasn’t competed since December of 2012 when he stopped Joe Wilk in the first round with a TKO. Twelve of his fourteen career victories have come by stoppages (8 KO/TKO, 4 Submission).

Yancy Medeiros won his first fight in the octagon in his sophomore appearance, stopping Yves Edwards in the first round via knockout. He previously suffered the first loss of his career in his UFC debut, losing to Rustam Khabilov by TKO, due to a broken thumb he suffered while catching himself on a takedown.

Tarec Saffiedine will go in the record books as Strikeforce’s last welterweight champion, as he defeated Nate Marquardt with a dominant unanimous decision in the promotion’s final show. He’s currently on a four-fight win streak, also including wins over Tyler Stinson, Scott Smith, and Roger Bowling. Injuries have kept him out of action for nearly a year.

South Korean fighter, Hyun Gyu Lim added another stunning knockout to his resume at UFC 164, stopping Pascal Krauss in the first round with a crushing knee. He’s now 2-0 in the UFC, also earning a knockout win over Marcelo Guimaraes in his promotional debut. Lim is currently on a seven-fight win streak, dating back to February of 2010.

Kiichi Kunimoto gets a shot in the UFC on the heels of a current four-fight win streak, most recently submitting UFC-veteran Edward Faaloloto in the first round with an armbar at Heat 27. He’s 9-1-2 in his last twelve fights, with six of those nine victories coming by stoppages.

Luiz Dutra Jr competed on the second season of the Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2, but was unable to join the cast despite winning his elimination round bout due to an injury. Officially, he enters the UFC on a four-fight win streak, but hasn’t competed since April of last year. Notable wins include decision victories over UFC-veterans Fabricio Camoes and Luis Ramos.

Jake Ellenberger rebounded from his June knockout loss to Martin Kampmann with a unanimous decision win over Jay Hieron at UFC on FX 5. The win was his seventh in eight fights, including notable wins against Diego Sanchez, Jake Shields, and Mike Pyle.

Nate Marquardt looks to rebound from losing Strikeforce’s welterweight title, following a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Tarec Saffiedine in January. The loss snapped a two-fight losing streak, including a stellar fourth round knockout of Tyron Woodley at Strikeforce: Rockhold vs Kennedy.
