Hector Lombard made quite the first impression in his welterweight debut, knocking out Nate Marquardt in under two minutes in the opening round at UFC 166. He went just 1-2 in the UFC’s 185-pound division, earning a knockout win over Rousimar Palhares, but lost split decisions to Tim Boetsch and Yushin Okami.

After a shaky 1-2 start to his UFC career, Jake Shields has proved he still belongs among the elite in mixed martial arts with three straight victories in the octagon. Most recently, a split decision win over grappling ace, Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 29.

Demian Maia nears title shot contention on the heels of a three-fight win streak, since making the drop to the welterweight division. He made his 170-pound debut in July of last year, earning a first round TKO victory over Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 148. Maia has since submitted Rick Story in the first round and dominated Jon Fitch for three rounds, earning a unanimous decision victory at UFC 156.

Jake Shields earned his third victory in the UFC at UFC 161, winning a closely-contested somewhat controversial split decision over Tyron Woodley. The Woodley fight was his first fight back after serving a six-month suspension for testing positive to a banned substance following his unanimous decision (later overturned to a no contest) win over Ed Herman at UFC 150.

Dong Hyun Kim continues to hover around title contention, following a unanimous decision win over Siyar Bahadurzada at UFC on Fuel TV 8. It was his second straight victory since losing by TKO to Demain Maia at UFC on Fuel TV 6, due to a freak rib injury. Kim has been in the UFC for over five years, amassing an impressive 8-2 record with the promotion during that time.

Rising superstar, Erick Silva rebounded nicely from his hard-fought decision loss to Jon Fitch at UFC 153, with a quick first round submission win over Jason High last June. He’s 3-2 in the UFC, but one of his losses was a controversial disqualification loss against Carlo Prater for shots to the back of the head, in a fight he was clearly winning.

Jake Shields returns to the welterweight division, following the completion of his nine-month suspension after testing positive to a banned substance after his win over Ed Herman at UFC 150. The victory was later overturned to a no-contest. Shields is 2-2 in the UFC, earning decision victories over Martin Kampann and Yoshihro Akiyama.

Tyron Woodley made quite the entrance in the UFC, knocking out the usually resilient Jay Hieron in just 36-seconds into the opening round. Previously, he suffered his first loss of his career, a fourth round knockout defeat to Nate Marquardt in a “Fight of the Year” candidate in 2012.
