Gray Maynard suffered only the second loss of his career at UFC 160, a first round TKO defeat to rising star TJ Grant. He’s 1-1 in the octagon, since his missed opportunity to become the UFC’s lightweight champion, losing to Frank Edgar via fourth round knockout at UFC 136. Maynard’s last victory was uneventful split decision victory over Clay Guida in June of last year.

Nate Diaz has now lost two straight, dropping a unanimous decision to then-champ Benson Henderson last December and most recently a second round TKO loss to Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 7. Diaz earned a shot at the UFC lightweight title after three straight dominant victories over Takanori Gomi, Donald Cerrone, and Jim Miller.

Nate Diaz’s bid to become UFC lightweight champion fell short, dropping a unanimous decision to Ben Henderson at UFC on FOX 5. The loss snapped a three-fight win streak, which included submission victories over Takanori Gomi and Jim Miller.

Strikeforce transfer, Josh Thomson hasn’t seen action since May of last year when he lost another decision (this time a split) to champion and rival, Gilbert Melendez. His last win was a unanimous decision victory over KJ Noons at Strikeforce: Tate vs Rousey.

Ben Henderson retained the UFC lightweight title following another controversial decision against Frank Edgar at UFC 150. Many believed Edgar won the first bout as well, when they met in February and Henderson won the title. Nevertheless, Henderson remains 5-0 in the UFC, since the UFC/WEC merger.

After losing two fights in a row, in the welterweight division, Nate Diaz returned to 155 lbs and put together his three best performances to date inside the octagon. Submission wins against Takanori Gomi and Jim Miller as well as a decision win against Donald Cerrone has earned Diaz a shot at UFC gold.
