Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire once again finds himself one win away from a shot at the Bellator featherweight title. He’s cruised through season nine’s tourney with a first round knockout win over UFC-veteran Diego Nunes, and a decision victory over Fabricio Guerreiro. Freire has won two previous Bellator tournaments, but came up short against Joe Warren and Pat Curran to become their champion.

Long-time Strikeforce veteran, Justin Wilcox took a spot in the finale in his first career Bellator tournament, earning wins over Akop Stepanyan and Joe Taimanglo in the first two rounds. Wilcox went 5-2 in Strikeforce, but didn’t make the transfer to the UFC after back-to-back losses to Caros Fodor and Jorge Masvidal.
