He previously earned a unanimous decision over Joey Gambino, rebounding from his first loss in the UFC, a decision loss to Darren Elkins.

Daniel Pineda snapped a two-fight losing streak with an impressive first round submission victory over Justin Lawrence at the Ultimate Fighter 17 finale. After beginning his UFC career 2-0 with two first round stoppages, Pineda lost back-to-back fights against Mike Thomas Brown and Antonio Carvalho.
