Roy Nelson is desperate need of a victory to maintain relevance among the top fights in the UFC’s heavyweight division following back-to-back uninspiring efforts against Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. He was quickly climbing the ranks in 2012 to early 2013, when he won three-straight fights over Dave Herman, Matt Mitrione, and Cheick Kongo, earning first round knockouts in all three fights.

37-year old, former Pride Fighting and UFC heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira refuses to call it a career just yet, despite trading wins and losses since December of 2008. After nearly going 10 years without losing by stoppages to begin his career, his last four losses have been stoppage defeats (2 KO/TKO, 2 submissions). Noguiera’s last win came at UFC 153, submitting Dave Herman in the second round.

Fabricio Werdum is likely one win away from a possible title shot, beginning his second stint in the UFC with two straight victories. He made his return in February of last year, dominating Roy Nelson to earn the unanimous decision. Werdum followed it up with a first round TKO victory over Mike Russow at UFC 147.

At 36 year’s old, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira still finds ways to win the UFC, most recently stopping Dave Herman in the second round with an armbar at UFC 153. It was his second win in three fights, also knocking out Brendan Schaub in the first round in August of 2011.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira returns after nearly a 1o-month layoff, due to a broken arm he suffered against Frank Mir at UFC 140. He refused to tap when Mir applied a kimura and the fight wasn’t stopped until Nogueira’s arm snapped. The loss was Nogueira’s second in three fights, only defeating Brendan Schaub by knockout at UFC 134.

Dave Herman is likely fighting for his UFC career after losing back-to-back fights. He debuted in June 2011, defeating John Olav Einemo by second round TKO at UFC 131. Herman has since lost consecutive knockout losses to Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson.
